Your Million Dollar Asset

Sometimes things don’t go like you planned.

And that’s okay.

What’s most important is that you keep your focus on God in all of it.

And you love yourself deeply through it.

This is what I learned how to do this week.

I left my school counseling position.

It wasn’t best for me.

I thought it was.

I went all in.

But once I was there and saw all that was involved,

It wasn’t right for me now.

It used to be.

I thought it could be again.

God’s grace provided a gracious way out for me.

I’m so thankful for this.

Time is your million dollar asset.

Everyone has it.

Are you spending yours on what you really want?

Why not?

God is faithful.

He set me up for success here.

I believe my short time in this position was what it was supposed to be.

I believed the best about myself.

I trusted myself enough to make the decision to leave.

And I trusted God to hold me and help me through all of it.

He is faithful always.

How do you need to apply His past faithfulness to your current situation?

I love you.

Write to God

DSC_0086.jpg

Become a Notes to God writer.

Write to Him.

Make Him your pen pal.

Start out with, I love You,

Thank You that I get to be alive today.

And go from there.

Write to Him from your heart.

About what you want.

What you hope for.

What you’re worried about.

And what you wish was different.

Write it down.

Look at it.

What do you see?

Now, give that to God.

All of it.

Try not to keep taking it back.

It’s what we do as humans.

Live worry free.

It gets you nowhere.

Worry is like rocking in a rocking chair.

Strengthen your relationship with God,

It’s the answer to any problem you have.

I love you and hope you have a good week.

God is One Thought Away

IMG_2638.jpg

What new thing are you starting?

Is it hard?

Why do you think that is?

It’s only because you think it is.

Really watch your thoughts.

They are causing how you feel.

Be curious about your thoughts.

Write them down.

I’ve been doing that this week.

I started my new job.

I have lots of thoughts that make me feel overwhelmed.

And lots of thoughts that make me feel excited.

I’m practicing redirecting my thoughts.

I want to feel good each day.

That is possible for me.

And It’s possible for you too.

Watch your thoughts.

What has helped me the most is practicing thoughts that support and encourage me.

I’m building new habits with this new job.

I’m practicing 3 new thoughts:

God is helping me.

I love me.

I’m figuring this out as I go, I have the mind of Christ. 1 Corinthians 2:16.

Which thoughts are supporting you today?

Make sure God’s name is in them.

That’s where the power is.

What new thing are you starting?

God wants to be in it.

Are you putting Him in it with your thoughts?

That’s the key.

God is simply one thought away.

When you’re feeling overwhelmed, redirect your mind back to Him.

That’s what I’m doing.

I love you.

God Knows What We Need

Sometimes God answers your prayers in a way you didn’t even ask for.

That’s what happened for me.

Mary is going to college tomorrow.

I have a new adventure starting soon, a new job.

God has made the timing work out so I have more time at home with her today.

I’m so thankful for this gift of time.

I love how God knows what we need before we know we need it.

I love Him so much.

He is the strength that gets me through all my new seasons.

Mary moving away.

My new job.

Will starting his Senior year in High School tomorrow.

Tommy starting his Sophomore year in College the end of the month.

It’s all good.

I’ve decided it is.

God makes it good.

He keeps my emotions stable.

He keeps me excited about what’s next.

What’s next for you?

Is God keeping you stable in it?

Something Better

Maybe you need a “something better” now.

What are you building in your life?

Will it support you into your 90’s?

This has been on my heart this week.

Two of my kids are going off to college.

One is going to be a senior in high school.

I feel this pull in my heart around my life work, which I call my “something better.”

Do you need one?

Have you let your growth in what’s important to you idle?

Is it time to get it out of park?

God wants to help you.

He’s the source of fuel for your “something better.”

How can you connect with Him about it?

His abundance is without limits.

When you seek your “something better” in Him, there are no limits. :)

You Are Blessed

IMG_0700.jpg

How would you describe your relationship with God?

Healthy, good, loving, exciting?

Why not?

You get to decide how you want it to be.

What holds you back?

Have you talked to Him about it?

He’s always waiting. James 4:8

You are so fortunate & blessed.

It’s not in the way you may think.

You are blessed, happy, fortunate because you long for Him. Isaiah 30:18

How is that going?

I love you.

God loves you the most.

What are you longing for today?

Don’t Miss Out

God is your most important relationship.

Don’t miss out on enjoying Him.

Build habits that make spending time with Him easy.

Thinking controls all of our habits.

Do you think about what you’re thinking about?

Is it about you and God?

Your relationship?

What if you made a doodle that makes you think about God?

I made a special doodle of a heart with a smiley face inside.

To me it means, God makes my heart happy.

This doodle helps me think about God.

How do you think about God?

I love you.

God loves you the most.

How can you create reminders for yourself that God makes you happy?

Planting Seeds for God

IMG_2190.jpg

What are you believing about your work in the world?

Do you have a lot of doubt that comes in and grows weeds around the seeds you’re planting?

I did.

This is what I’m working on this week.

I’m at the beach with my family, our yearly OBX trip.

I love enjoying this part of God’s beautiful creation.

I walk with Him in the mornings.

This is what He put on my heart this morning.

To start believing that the seeds I’m planting are the right seeds.

I’ve been letting doubt crowd my seeds with a lot of weeds.

Today, by faith, I’m practicing this new thought until I believe it with all of my heart.

I am planting the right seeds for God.

He is growing them.

He’s got the results, not me.

Sometimes I forget that.

I hope whatever seeds you’re planting, you’re believing they are the right seeds for Him.

I love you.

How are you staying close to God this summer?

What Are You Celebrating?

IMG_1702.jpg

How’s your June going?

I’ve been focused on celebrating my daughter, Mary.

She’s graduating from Handley HS this week.

COVID has made her senior year different, but she has continued to shine her beautiful light.

We all have a COVID story.

Each one may look a little different, but what is the same is loss.

Loss of a loved one, loss of a job, loss of time being together.

What have you done with your loss?

Have you given it to God?

Have you invited Him into it?

God is the source of all comfort. 2 Corinthians 1:3

I’m so thankful God comforts me in my loss.

This week I’m celebrating my daughter, Mary.

What are you celebrating this week?

How can you make God the head of what you’re celebrating?

I love you.

Fight To Feel Good!

IMG_1487.jpg

Fight to feel good.

How?

Fight to keep thinking thoughts that make you feel good.

You always have a choice.

Thoughts about thankfulness always feel good.

Even when everything around you seems bad.

Your circumstances are hard.

Your brain offers you, I’m screwed.

You’re not!

  1. God is with you. Hebrews 13:5

  2. God is for you. Jeremiah 29:11

  3. God is always working for your good. Romans 8:28

These 3 thoughts I’ve been thinking on purpose all week.

A few people in my life are fighting to feel good right now.

Sometimes it seems like the help I’m offering falls short.

God put on my heart, go help someone else while I’m helping the one you love who is really hurting.

I hope you’re staying close to God today.

How do you fight to feel good?

I love you.

Write to God Daily

DSC_0086.jpg

All parts of your life become better when you are enjoying God.

Some people feel bad about not spending enough time with God, and then they feel guilty because they keep putting if off.

I help people who want to enjoy God, build habits that make spending time with Him easy.

One of my favorite habits is writing to God daily.

I have a simple spiral notebook.

I call it my “Notes to God” book.

Some days my entries are as short as, I love you God, help me be the Mom Tommy, Mary & Will need me to be.

Some days are notes to Him about my day, and what I hope He will do to help me.

Some days are doodles that I make just for Him.

The key to this habit is keeping it simple.

Write to Him from your heart.

Keep the notebook by your bed and keep it by your calendar.

When He puts things on your heart, write them down.

These notes will become precious to you as you grow in your relationship with Him.

I love you.

Enjoy Being You

IMG_1350.jpg

Today is my Birthday!

I’m spending it at my favorite place, the beach.

I’m so thankful I get to be alive today.

I spent the morning writing to God and looking at His beautiful creation, the ocean.

I’ve been focusing on me.

What that really means.

God always shows up in my writing and helps me.

The pressure I put on myself isn’t necessary.

I’ve been working on the core thoughts I want to believe about me.

They are centered in God’s word.

Are you enjoying being you?

What makes your heart happy?

Have you defined what it means to be you?

Enjoy being you, everyone else is taken.

I hope you’re staying close to God today.

I love you.

Grace

IMG_1329.jpg

It’s what I need today.

Mother’s Day was yesterday.

I had a good day.

Thankfully, I’m feeling better after getting my 1st shingles vaccination on Thursday.

I’ve been struggling with what God wants me to do next.

I know in my heart what I want to do, help people stay close to Him & be happier.

My inner critic questions and doubts me.

I’m working on not attaching my identity to any work or job I do.

Simply keeping my identity in Christ.

I’m excited it’s May, my Birthday month.

I love the word sign I have by my bed,

“Start each day like It’s your Birthday.”

Are you enjoying being the gift of you?

Remember how it felt when you were little and it was your Birthday.

The excitement. The anticipation.

You can still have that today.

I’m choosing that and smiling.

I hope you’re smiling today.

I hope you’re staying close to God today.

He’s the source of all that makes us smile.

I love you.

God is With Me

IMG_1267.jpg

What are you talking to yourself about today?

I’m focusing on this thought.

God is with me.

It’s true.

It’s His word.

Why don’t we focus on His word more in our self-chatter?

I’m deciding to today.

How are you staying close to God?

I love you.

Self-Care. Self-Love.

IMG_0812.jpg

Are you giving yourself what you give to others?

Why not?

The only person who can give you those things is you.

When you put God as the focus in the process of your self-care, your relationship with Him grows in amazing ways.

How can you put your focus on God while you give yourself self-care and self-love?

I hope you’re staying close to God.

I love you.

I Think I Can

FullSizeRender.jpg

“You must do the thing you think you cannot do.” Eleanor Roosevelt

What do you want to do that you keep putting off?

Why do you keep putting it off?

Because something inside you says “I can’t.”

“I can’t” is the bottom line.

The excuses around “I can’t” are secondary.

“I can’t” is the judge.

You need to take “I can’t” out, meaning, destroy the judge.

Your judge makes you think he’s protecting you.

This is not true.

Take him out.

How?

Don’t feed him with your thoughts.

Or agree with him by proving he’s right by not doing the thing he says “I can’t” do.

Why do you keep putting off the thing you want to do?

The only thing stopping you is the thought “I can’t.”

Ask God to help you.

He will.

I love you.

Work For Something Good

IMG_1147.jpg

Look for thoughts you want to think a lot.

You’re writing your story every day whether you’re acknowledging you’re writing it or not.

So why not on purpose write it how you want.

From what you want.

Adopt new thoughts to help you do it.

I spent an hour on Thursday looking at a little book, Think Happy, Be Happy, to adopt some new thoughts.

When I opened the book, I landed on this thought,

“Work for something because it is good, not just because it stands a chance to succeed.” Vaclav Havel

I believe God had me land on this thought to encourage me.

I needed some encouragement.

He’s always waiting to give it to us. Isaiah 30:18

Are we looking for it from Him or from someone else?

I hope you’re staying close to God today.

I love you.

Let The Bible Help You

IMG_0991.jpg

Find scriptures that make you feel better.

What’s going on in your life that’s making you feel how you don’t want to feel?

It’s not really that thing.

It’s your thoughts about that thing causing your feelings about it.

Let the Bible help you.

Find a scripture that makes you feel good.

Practice saying it aloud.

Practice thinking it today.

Put it on an index card.

Put that index card by your bed.

Say the scripture aloud in the morning when you wake up.

Say the scripture aloud before you go to bed.

Moving your thoughts to God’s word helps you keep Him 1st.

I’m using Psalm 147:11 and practicing this today.

How are you staying close to God?

What scripture(s) are you using to feel better?

God’s word helps us feel better every day. :)

“Focused on God Thinker”

IMG_0781.jpg

What are you focused on this week?

What if you switched your focus to God and took action from that thinking?

That is what I am doing.

It’s what I’ve been doing for years.

Being a “Focused on God Thinker” has changed my life.

Given me stability emotionally.

Made me stronger & able to get unstuck.

Helped me move through my hardest seasons.

What are you focused on today?

I encourage you to shift your perspective to becoming a “Focused on God Thinker.”

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

God Keeps His Word

IMG_0700.jpg

I am someone who believes God keeps His word, so I don’t worry.

This is the thought I’m practicing and meditating on today.

Practicing thoughts with Him as the focus helps me stay close to Him.

What are you worried about today?

Have you taken it to God’s throne of grace?

He promises to help you.

Do you know His promises?

Have you looked for them in His word?

Today you can.

Start by believing you can.

Believe He keeps His word.

Ask Him to guide you.

He will. Psalm 32:8

Cry to Him if that helps. Psalm 56:8

Write to Him if that helps.

Take some type of action to stay close to Him.

Even if it’s only thinking about Him, that is the action He desires most.
